Project Focus: Summer Break Trip for Ethiopian-Israeli Teens
The Ethiopian olim arrived home after generations of longing to reach the Promised Land. However, many Ethiopian Israelis lack the wherewithal to actually see and tour Israel. Help provide Ethiopian Israeli teens with an educational adventure during the summer vacation.
The summer break is an ideal time to acquaint teens with the beauty and history of Israel by offering guided tours to northern and southern Israel. Such activities also serve to support the parents who in most cases are working full-time and do not have the means to take their children on tour. It is especially important to keep the youth occupied in constructive activities during the summer vacation.
With the help of your support, FIDEL plans to offer 200 teens with an overnight 'tiyul' to northern Israel in August.
FIDEL ("Alphabet" in Amharic) promotes the academic and social achievements of over 5,000 Ethiopian Israeli children, youth and parents each year through high-impact educational and social enrichment programs.
FIDEL's goal is to empower the community by providing learning and social skills ensuring a successful integration into Israeli society. Effective programs provide children, youth and adults the necessary skills and knowledge with which to integrate and succeed in Israeli society.
FIDEL's vision is of an Ethiopian-Israeli community that is fully integrated into Israeli society while retaining pride in its unique identity.
