Project Details

The Family Nest provides a number of the grant goals:

The main goal of the Family Nest is Protecting children from domestic harm, supporting mothers who are neglected that don't function as parents. Provide them with tools to function and be more self-dependent. The combination of "Home Visits" and Workshops is to help mothers and children break away from the cycle of helplessness and transform them into caregivers.

  • Provide food for around 1,000 individuals who are suffering from food insecurity in Israel, by providing twice a year food packages before the holiday's; performing a weekly workshop with lessons on how to make healthy and nutritious meals for the family with a small budget.
    • Budget $8,000 annual.
  • The Family Nest runs a weekly workshop for around 50 youth at risk with their mother's to keep them off the streets and provide them with their only after school programming, not only to improve connection with their mother's but also enhance their social success. In addition to monthly group and recreational trips.
    • Budget $40,000 annual.
  • Providing 80 mothers who are recognized by the Welfare Department, as isolated and in major need of support with a personal companion (volunteer) who performs home visits and helps them develop and enter the employment circle as well as build confidence and improve family life and the safety of her children. Provide a bundling of services that includes personal care, recreation, socialization.
    • Budget $75,000 annual.

About Us


The Family Nest, founded in 1989, is one of Israel’s most unique social women change programs- supporting deprived, hard stricken families, by connecting women volunteers to give back to one another and assist mothers exit the cycle of desperation. Nowadays over 80% of our two year distressed mothers program graduates, volunteer back into the community, and over 20% of the graduate mothers’ choose to volunteer at the Family Nest assisting new mothers grow from within the program.   We provide individual one on one support by trained volunteers consisting of weekly home visits, perform group support, perform group activities, bring in professionals to lecture, and perform integrated mother-children activities to continue to build the mothers confidence and children’s safety, while gaining life experiences and a smile.

The Family Nest operates on various levels in supporting the mothers with an integrated element with the children.
